Sustainability

The United States Environmental Protection Agency defines sustainability as:

Everything that we need for our survival and well-being depends, either directly or indirectly, on our natural environment. To pursue sustainability is to create and maintain the conditions under which humans and nature can exist in productive harmony to support present and future generations.

The City of Concord's Sustainability Committee works within the City organization to promote practices and policies that conserve Concord's environmental and economic resources.

Mission: The City of Concord’s Sustainability Committee fosters sustainability through education, resources conservation, and adoption of innovative practices.

Vision: Moving the City forward with shared purpose to create a healthy, resilient organization through collaboration, innovation, and sustainable practices.

Litter sweeps

Litter sweep events are organized community cleanup campaigns where residents and City staff collect trash from roadsides, parks, and streams to beautify local areas and protect the environment. By August 2026, we have collected 432 bags of litter.
